Shenzhen is a unique innovation engine where R&D, advanced manufacturing, and supply chains operate within a tightly integrated, full-stack ecosystem. Here, artificial intelligence moves beyond software and becomes embedded in factories, mobility systems, and infrastructure. With over 25,000 high-tech companies, 30 unicorns, and the highest R&D intensity among China’s major cities (6.67% of GDP in 2025), Shenzhen generates unparalleled deal flow, technology scouting, and market-entry opportunities across next-generation industrial systems.

The Greater Bay Area (GBA), with Shenzhen at the core, extends this advantage at system level. Linking nine Guangdong cities with Hong Kong and Macao, it forms China’s most strategic mega-region. By combining manufacturing strength, finance, research, and global connectivity, the GBA provides the structural scale that allows intelligent manufacturing, robotics, autonomous mobility, and low-altitude systems to move rapidly from design to commercialisation. With GDP projected to exceed RMB 15 trillion in 2025, the GBA’s complete value chains and strong market depth make it a gateway for long-term industrial positioning and regional growth.

For business leaders tracking the future of global industry, Shenzhen and the GBA offer a rare vantage point: the opportunity to observe how the cutting-edge concept of Physical AI systems are industrialised and how emerging technical standards are shaped before scaling globally..
