ChinaEU and Hangzhou Talent Group Build New Innovation Bridge Between Europe and Hangzhou Connecting Europe with Hangzhou’s AI and Robotics Ecosystem
Hangzhou / Brussels – September 2026
ChinaEU and Hangzhou Talent Group have signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement to build stronger links between European companies, entrepreneurs and innovation players and Hangzhou, one of China’s most dynamic technology hubs.
The partnership will focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, digital technologies and other emerging industries, creating practical opportunities for business cooperation, technology partnerships and international development.
Hangzhou has rapidly become one of China’s most closely watched technology cities. It is home to Alibaba, as well as a new generation of companies including DeepSeek and Unitree Robotics, which have attracted global attention in artificial intelligence and robotics.
The city hosts a rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, while its robotics and embodied-intelligence sectors are becoming increasingly important drivers of innovation and industrial development.
Against this background, ChinaEU and Hangzhou Talent Group intend to create a practical bridge between the Hangzhou and European innovation ecosystems, facilitating company exchanges, technology scouting, business matchmaking and joint projects.
Luigi Gambardella, President of ChinaEU, said: “Europe needs direct access to the places where the next generation of technology is being developed and brought to market. Hangzhou is one of those places. Our objective is simple: connect European companies and innovators with Hangzhou’s technology ecosystem and turn those connections into partnerships, projects and business opportunities. The success of this agreement will ultimately be measured not by the number of meetings we organise, but by what we are able to build together.”
Tian Baichen, Chairman of Hangzhou Talent Group, said: “As an important driver of Hangzhou’s talent and science and technology innovation ecosystem, Hangzhou Talent Group attaches great importance to strengthening substantive connections with Europe’s innovation community. We look forward to working closely with ChinaEU to provide comprehensive support for European companies, talent and innovation projects seeking to establish a presence in Hangzhou, while also creating efficient channels for Hangzhou-based companies to expand into the European market. Together, we will build an innovation and cooperation platform that enables mutual empowerment and delivers shared benefits and win-win outcomes.”
The agreement will also support Hangzhou-based technology companies and institutions seeking partnerships and opportunities in Europe, creating a two-way channel for innovation and business cooperation.
ChinaEU and Hangzhou Talent Group will now work to translate the framework into concrete initiatives linking companies, entrepreneurs, researchers and technology communities on both sides.
